The American Southwest

I REALLY love the color in this. This is not a location that we see images of a LOT- not Monument Valley or the Grand Overlook of Zion, but you have made it into something phenomenal by catching GREAT light and your processing. You have not burnt the highlights, and we still see into the shadows- good job!

Man you caught some GREAT light for this one! Comp is pretty good, too... might have worked better with a bit more breathing room on the top... the cut off hoodoo sort of kills what could have been a truly extraordinary image in my opinion. Of course, there may be other considerations....

Wonderful capture. This time of day is very contrasty... good work on keeping definition is the highlights and not loosing info in the shadows. This is just down from Sunrise Point on the Queens Trail, right? Great place for an image, as you have shown here!

I just had to say you pulled this over VERY well. I have stood right exactly there at least twice and hunted for an image, and have not yet pulled it off as well as you did here. Great light, perfect on the time of the exposure- really a well done image. I LOVE Zion, especially in the early morning (assuming this was early).

I like this because this is not the view we normally see of the amphitheater- a little more personal than many images. Getting up for the sunrise makes this stand out even more stand out. The colors are not overpowering, if anything, they almost seem understated....
