The city by night

Paris by night in the rain. What could be more romantic? Without doubt, it's the rain drops in the foreground that really set this image off, but the overall photo is truly beautiful, and it's very successfully framed and exposed, too.

The serendipity involved in this photo is incredible, but there's also a lot of skill to it, and then there's the sheer fact of being out there in a place to get the shot. The end result is a shot that absolutely screams London at night. Superb.

Whether this is the beginning or the end of the night is impossible to know, but the way the room light mirrors the tower beyond is fantastic, and the compressed perspective works perfectly. A tremendously atmospheric photo.
