This is a very interesting angle and very different from anything else I had seen. I like the use of the wide lens looking directly upwards from the ground. It creates a nice composition of the red poppies standing out against the blue sky and whispy clouds.

This picture stood out amongst others because of its simple yet graphic and bold composition. The colour palette works well, with the red jellyfish bodies contrasting very nicely against the dark blue background while the lighter colour tentacles give a nice sense of converging and moving upwards in the frame.

The lighting in this picture created a lovely atmosphere to the image with the use of a large, soft light source. The red colours really pop out against the velvety black background and it really helps bring out the incredible details of the rooster's feathers, comb and wattles.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Red in nature, the warning colour, the poisonous berry, the fly agaric toadstool, the red hot chilli. And the colour of ripeness, of ready-to-eat cherries and rosy apples and fat strawberries, of leaves ready to fall. And red as a way of standing out, being attractive, the red rose, the macaw parrot, and a field of poppies. There’s nothing that makes an image sing like a splash of red.
