Thank you Steve for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your first place! This light is truly magical! A well-composed diagonal image, following the path of light that enters powerfully through the window, transforms the worker almost into a silhouette and finally ends up on the machinery in the foreground, highlighting the gear wheel.

Thank you Christian for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 3th place! In a total black a profile emerges while looking out the window. The light is soft in this evocative scene.

Thank you Patrick for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 5th place! The grazing light that illuminates these headstones is very eye-catching, it created an evocative atmosphere. The slabs are different from each other, all standing as if they wanted to grab the sun, which is life.

Thank you Mark for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 7th place! A black scene, but a ray of the sun affects some windows, like a message of hope in the dark that sometimes envelops us. With this underexposure, you have brought to life an ordinary facade.

Thank you Simon for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 4th place! A simple detail of a forest of bare trees, which attracts with the graphic effect of vertical lines. The trunks change hue as you go towards the background: from black they become increasingly lighter gray, until they get lost in the fog that wraps the scene with its delicate light.

Thank you for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 6th place! A massive shape dominates this photo, maybe it is difficult to understand what it is and what it is doing, but we are attracted by the light that vibrates around the subject. Reading the description, you realize that it is dust raised by the movement of the bison, highlighted by the backlight. It is a naturalistic image that is striking by the way the subject was taken, filling the frame and with a kind of halo around it.

Thank you Jan for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your second place! A magical strong light that comes from two geometric signs: the vertical lines of the window fan out on the floor. The graphics created by the light are predominant, so much so that the figures seem very small, out of scale. I read that you have strongly searched for this light situation, my compliments for your ability of "foresee".

Thank you Luboš for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 10th place! I was struck by how the light, that lightens the top of this wall, creates a geometric line in the darkness, towards the lighter sky in the background. The industrial round knob looks like a small UFO.

Thank you for joining my “The magic of natural light (in black and white)” contest and congratulations on your 9th place! This picture has an ancient look, it reminds me of photos from the first half of the last century that showed futuristic constructions for those times. The arch of the bridge looms in the frame, although it dissolves a little in the soft light created by the mist.

The light can be soft or harsh, but it is the most important aspect of photography. I would like to see your best photos in black and white where you have used the natural light. The photos can be taken outdoors or indoors, but, in the latter case, insert the natural light source in the frame (for example a window or a door). The subject can be any, but please not adult content.
