What a great way to use the classic red and black. The diagonal composition serves the screwdrivers well. everything is nicely placed and aligned and I could honestly see this eye catching image being used in advertising. Meet the judge
My 2nd choice is a very simple but elegant image. It caught my eye because I cannot unsee a hammer being used on screws! It got itself noticed for sure. I like the soft vignette effect and the subtle lighting which makes that hammer (and screw) stand out well against the nicely detailed wooden surface. This image got my attention straight away. I want to know what the man is working on. The neatness of that workshop is beyond belief. A lovely way to showcase tools. Presenting it in black and white works really well making the tools prominent in the image. I think colour would have sent them into the background, unnoticed. A great image, with great composition putting the man in the thirds. Congratulations on judge 3rd and thankyou for entering.

For this contest I am looking for your photos of tools of any age or condition that you could normally find in a workshop. Think woodwork, garage, metalwork etc. You can either shoot them in situ in the workshop, arrange them into a stilllife or show the tools being used, but the tools should be the focus of your image. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing and judging your images.
