March 2023

A well spotted contrast of the old and the modern. The focal length gives a great sense of scale for the monument. The exposure is very well balanced considering the bright sunlight outside and the shadows inside. Well composed and a great eye for the moment.

Angel wings came to mind even before seeing the title of the image. A great twist on this popular travel icon. As well as having a creative addition to an already solid composition, the balance of exposure across the entire image is also spot on. The strong lead in line points straight to the brightest part of the image and the main subject, allowing the vision to then spread out with the wings.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** These are the stops on a world tour that have to be made, to see architecture, natural formations, and gatherings of people that are iconic, unmissable, recognisable to so many, and that you have to have on your Instagram if you want to describe yourself on there as a lover of travel. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea to visit these most popular of destinations, but plenty do, and we’re inviting your images of them here.

As chaotic as this image is, I still find a balance in how it is weighted, with the main subject not being lost. The viewers eye is always brought back to the middle of the image after exploring the details in the multiple exposures. I find my mind switching between "what is this?" to "I know what this is" in an almost playful way. I hope other viewers can appreciate it the way I have.
