From a distance this shot could be a pattern of colours or shapes, perhaps tiles on a floor or bricks on a wall, but look closely and you'll be presented with a mass of bodies in perfectly formed rows. The pillars act as lead-in lines that pull the viewer into the intimate moment of prayer. We particularly like the fact that this scene is one that won't often be witnessed by regular tourists or travel photographers, and the aerial feel of the shot gives us a very unique view of prayer.
On first glance it's not initially clear what this picture is of. However, on closer inspection what we are presented with is a rather ordinary family lunch in an extraordinary location. The image has been shot from above looking straight down, making it look like the photographer was shooting from mid air. We love this image because it shows us a snapshot of life from another culture – it's the eye contact from the little boy that truly makes the image, however.
This is an extremely charming photograph that celebrates two artistic mediums in one stunning shot. As viewers we can see the beautiful architecture of Venice through both the artist's eyes and the photographer's, providing us with a very interesting and unique perspective of the scene. The colours are lovely and the artist situated on the edge of the shot helps to frame the image. The slant of the handrail across the scene further adds to the image's quirkiness and appeal.
