Umbrellas

I love the use of the primary red, green and blue colours in this shot, it makes it a very bold image. Nice use of the direction of the sun, roughly a 45 degree angle to give some lovely textures and shadows from the grass, sand and the shimmering umbrella.

This image made me smile, it's a fun picture. I like the black and white tones, the texture of the stone wall with the lichen and the texture of the umbrella contrast well with the model's legs. The fill-in flash is subtle and isn't obvious so that was well done!

I chose this image as the winner as it says everything there is about rain, sheltering and umbrellas. The black and white adds to the Cartier-Bresson feel of street photography. It's timed very well with the foot on the white stripe and the lighter umbrella against the darker pavement. The raindrops on the open window make me feel like we are watching the world go by outside whilst sheltering from the rain.
