Urban Minimalism

It doesn't come much more minimalist than this. A brilliant balance of simplicity and yet enough detail to keep us interested. The use of the light is excellent, drawing attention to the closed-up window and making us wonder what's behind it, which adds a mysterious touch. Well done!

The composition of this photo is excellent, turning a boring concrete urban car park into an aesthetic pleasure. The yellow colour and the arrows give us just enough detail and the light fall adds to the attractiveness of the image. A close second!

This image is a great composition of geometric elements, each of a different nature. The subject is minimalist but the overall picture is very attractive through good use of the windows, including one we can't see. A very uplifting photo despite the shadowed wall. Well done.

Zebra crossings are a key part of the urban landscape and offer great photographic opportunities. Here, one has been used to great effect in a minimalist photo that contains just enough detail to keep us engaged. The yellow edges of the pavement and the slight lifting of the gutter cover are well observed and captured. A very nice minimalist picture.

This photo stands out due to its subject which brought a nice change from the mostly architecture focused submissions to this competition. This minimalist urban still-life is well executed, putting the focus on the seemingly randomly positioned bags. A great shot!
