Beautiful subject and composition in this idyllic flower/portrait shot. I like how the path cuts diagonally across the dense bluebell field and the girl stands just off centre, walking. It makes the image dynamic, alive. The back light, creating both an explosion of golden light between the trees and long shadows onto the ground, adds much atmosphere to this capture evoking images of magical fairy woodlands. Perfect exposure & contrast are the cherry on the cake. A very successful image, well done!
If there was ever a perfect poppy shot, this is definitely it.
What a great idea shooting against the low-laying sun. The low backlight makes the texture in the overlapping petals and every bit of fuzz on the stems visible, adding important detail and texture to the image. The back lighting also performs the essential task of separating the poppies in the foreground with the dark greenery behind them, with the added bonus being the striking golden glow. I like the depth of field used in this capture: wide enough to isolate the front row of flowers from the rest, giving neatness and order to the shot, whilst still allowing the viewer to get a sense of the field that extends past them. A fantastic shot, well done!
This melancholic shot portrays wildflowers in a different light than what we're commonly used to seeing, and I love it for it. The shallow depth of field completely isolates the flower from everything around it, turning its surroundings in a soft blur that manages to convey a magical and eerie atmosphere. The petals and water drops are, in turn, as sharp as they could be, pleasing the eye. I applaud this colour grading. I love how muted and 'olive' the green was made to be. It further conveys a feeling of melancholy whilst creating beautiful contrast with the bright purple of the flower petals. I could stare at this image for a very long time. Well done!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** We’ve been cultivating, hybridising and planting flowers for millennia, but for this ranked contest we're focussing on flowers occurring more naturally than this - the native species that exist in the wild, and seed, grow and reproduce entirely of their own volition. Images can be colour or black and white, and anything from close-ups to wider landscapes, so long as wildflowers feature prominently.
