I have awarded this image for the wildlife conservation competition as it shows conservation in action. This photo fits in very well with the competition theme and it is well supported by a good write-up that reinforces the images story. I think the image is well composed and well balanced, you have really captured the emotions of the moment and it is quite clear that this chap enjoys his work. I could quite easily see this photo supporting a story in a magazine.
Hello what a great photo, I love this photo and found myself studying it for some time. This is definitely the type of conservation image you would expect to see supporting an editorial about the subject. it is well balanced and coloured, that of a documentary style image. I love the face you can see the bond between human and primate, you have captured the emotion of the moment well. Well done and keep up the good work. Happy snapping
what a great photo, I love the composition and the blue tones make such a great backdrop for the turtle.. what a canvas!. I can almost hear David Attenborough narrating along to this image in my head. It is wonderfully clear and sharp and the turtle is lit perfectly, I have dived myself so know not always an easy task to manage yourself and your surroundings when underwater so bravo on such a perfect image. Keep up the great work.
A striking image and a stark reminder of how destructive the human race can be. A fitting image for the contest. as a feedback point have you tried this in a more documentary style (B & W) don't get me wrong this is a great image that tells a story, but I think B & W would give it a real kick to the next level and help tell that story better. hope you find this useful, Keep up the good work and happy snapping.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words and this one really does, It fits perfectly with the theme of the competition "Wildlife conservation" it shows the reason why conservation is needed! in all its gruesomeness and sometimes shocking images are needed to open people's eyes as to what really goes on for some of these animals. is it shocking to think that most endangered animals are only endangered because of the human race. well done keep you the good work.
Hello, What a fantastic shot, I myself know all about waiting for hours on the off chance you might get a usable shot. good call to abandon the ND filter I think the sun is just, to low in the sky to make it work but by removing the ND it has given you the advantage as the backdrop is wonderfully dramatic and sets the picture up well for the foreground subject. this is definitely the kind of image you would expect to see supporting a conservation article about these magnificent creatures. Well done great effort.
What a great image you have here, I think that Gorilla conservation has been one of the most recognised of all the conservation projects largely thanks to Dian Fossey. and you can clearly see why Dian Fossey gave so much of her life in Rwanda trying to protect these magnificent creatures from the perils of poaching. I like the fact the image is centre weighted focused. as it draws the eye straight to the center of the image, this can sometimes be a bit of a gamble but one that has paid off here. well done and keep up the good work, happy snapping.
Due to global warming, Polar bears face a challenging time rasing cubs, with less than a 50% survival rate and this is largely due to a lack of food and those odds decrease when there are two or more clubs. I really love this image because it highlights this fact by showing the cubs tugging at frozen scraps. A lucky find for any polar bear mother. The image is well balanced, extremely sharp and perfectly focused. I love the composition and can quite easily see this photograph supporting a conservation editorial. What a fantastic image!

The goal of wildlife conservation is to ensure that nature will be around for future generations to enjoy and one of the main tools is through the use of photography. Expanding public awareness of issues and stimulating remedial action from shocking to the heart warming and everything in between. I really love the composition you have in this image I have a real soft spot for big cats and know how much time you must have spent trying to get this image it has the potential to be a fantastic shot. Unfortunately, it looks to has been over sharpened losing definition most noticeable on the left side of the image. I know how hard it is to be self-disciplined with the overall quality of an image I myself had many photographs rejected from editorials for the same thing when I was starting out. Try to check them for imperfections and see if you can fix in post edit there are a lot of tips and tricks out there is fix such a problem. great image well down. I hope this will help you improve and enjoy your future photos.
They say a picture is worth a thousend words and in my opinion this photo really does tell a story. This is a great image, I really like that you have captured the action perfectly of the small cub in mid jump on to his unsuspecting brother as mum keeps an watchful eye on them. A wonderfuly clear image with great lighting and great detail. well done, you must be please with this. keep up the good work and happy snapping!
Hello, I am a big fan of photographing big cats and have a number in a similar style to what you have here. I have been looking at this photo for about 30 mins trying to decide if I like it or not, and I really can't make a decision. I like the subject matter and the perspective. what I think lets it down is the fact that there is a green hue around the face fur (you can fix this with the white balance) also on the right side of the face there is some background bleed through that really stands out against the black (again easily fixed in post edit) The cheetahs back is a little bright meaning your eye gets pulled toward it. why not try it in B&W and bring some vignetting in, to give a dark to light effect. take a look at my profile and you will see how I have done mine in this style. I hope you find this feedback of use and I'm more that happy to assist you should you wish just drop me a message. happy snapping.
