Wildlife spotted in trees

October 2018

A wonderfully atmospheric shot that works so well in the mostly dark colour setting. Love the highlighted face and digits of the frogs feet with an accentuation on the bark with almost the skyscraper backdrop of nightlife in the city, though I'm sure thats not the actual backdrop, it just popped into my head as soon as I saw the image :)

Fabulous composition of these two stunners, love the paleness of the whole shot. gives it a bright sepia tone with some dabs of purple to bring it to life. Their wings make the shot though as almost it could be a whole insect, and the detail is superb! They could well be having a morning chat!

This would have been up there with a shout but sadly it doesn't give any evidence of being in a tree which is what the competition is about, but I love the symmetry of the shot and those cold cold eyes. For me it would have been up there in the top 10 if we had a slight glimpse of a tree ;) But well done for a super shot. I'm feeling sleepy..... zzz

This is quite simply a stunning image of this white tailed eagle! The position of the bird having maybe just landed gives a lovely impression of movement and blizzard winds! Whats so apparent in the image is the birds shear power with the feet and beak showing what a fabulous bird of prey that it is, congratulations a stunning image. I cant stop coming back to it and am trying to work out why. Its the feet and beak that draw me back and the movement in the wind which comes out of a 2d image! A worthy winner in my books....

Quite lovely Michael! Those eyes are totally amazing , and I love the curve of the leaf on the right making my eyes curl around and head back into the main part of the image, the eyes. Cracking natural shot !

I love this image, it shows shear split second power as the woodpecker punches through the tree , brilliantly caught, hats off to you! The saturation is maybe a tiny bit over but its still a stunningly beautiful image. The bits of wood really do look as they have exploded out of the tree with such force. And the birds face popping out at the perfect moment. Well done indeed!

Some of the most photogenic creatures aren't always the easiest to access. Above our heads, birds battle for territory while insect thrive in high-altitude environments or the tree trunks and branches that we pass by every day. Most of us would never get to witness this world if it wasn't for the ingenuity of the photographers who focus their lens on these fascinating microcosms. Branch out, and show us what you find.
