Snow is like a magnet to photographers and it's no wonder why. It transports us to another place and transforms any scene. We have to make sure we don't fall into a trap however - we still need a subject. This scene is nice and attractive to look at, but there is no specific subject - we need something to focus on. Maybe a slightly longer focal length would have made the branches into an abstract frame with a greater sense of purpose.
Winter detail indeed! This scene is familiar yet abstract and we love that element. The natural patterns at play are well captured through the ideal use of focal length and the exposure is spot on. The opposing direction of the lines within the frame guide us around the shot and offer a pleasing balance.

Snowy landscapes are beautiful to behold but we want to see more than wide vistas. Focus on ice crystals, frosty trees, misty woodland or rainy streets. Capture the atmosphere of the season.
The top down perspective is instantly engaging and the choice to divide the frame directly in half is a bold one which pays off. The shot has an abstract feel to it but captures the varied textures we see in winter perfectly. The lack of scale also holds out attention and makes us want to explore the scene. Nicely done!
