I love the dramatic lighting choice here! There's just enough light, and the glow in the petals is fabulous. The darker vignette choice really simplifies the subject beautifully, this is well composed and I think the painterly effect is quite lovely.

This photo is stunning in it's elegance and simplicity. The lighting adds drama, and also brings out the beautiful texture of the hibiscus petals. The rich, dark background further simplifies the image, and the red is perfectly exposed. Wonderful work.

Parrot Tulips are wonderful flowers, but also incredibly hard to photograph well as they are very intricate flowers. I really like the lighting and point of view choices made here, and the simple background was a must to keep the attention on all of the colors and lines in the subject.

This photo reminds me of a pinwheel! There is great, sharp detail in the top of the stigma in the center of the frame, and the blur in the petals below it really adds to the feeling of motion here, excellent lighting as well.

The bokeh here adds a bit of magic to this beautiful photo. The warm tones in the background are a wonderful contrast to the sharp, blue blossoms, the photographer made excellent decisions in terms of lens choice, aperture and focus placement.

This dreamy image of a tiny wildflower is just beautiful. Wildflowers prove to be difficult subject because you have less control of the background, but this photographer was able to use the beautiful pastel highlights in the background to create magic.

This photo makes me think of a vibrant flamenco dancer, with a boldly colored skirt spreading out across the frame. The lighting really brings out the beautiful textured detail of the flower petals, and the orange really pops against the deep, black background.

Less is sometimes more when it comes to showcasing the wonders of nature. In this case a single flower is our focus, shown in all its glory, against either a plain background, or a background of other flowers and foliage but where the single flower is clearly the main subject. If shooting close up then it could be interesting to play with depth of field, and to spend time really exploring the compositions that are available.

I love this unique composition! Placing the center of the blossom over to the right side really shows off the petal detail and veining beautifully. The lighting on the flower and dark background also define the shape of the flower beautifully, simply wonderful.

This image makes me feel like I am out in a flower field in the early morning hours. The warm backlighting is a wonderful contrast to the frost covering the blossom and leaves. There's just enough sharp detail in focus, with well placed blur adding simplicity to the composition.

Love the bright white background here. Love In a Mist (Nigella) flowers are very difficult to photograph because the foliage is so busy, choosing the white background takes care of that issue perfectly while simplifying the composition, great lighting and detail captured as well.

The soft, painterly look of this dahlia is really lovely. The off-centered composition and soft, even lighting with shallow depth of field all combine to create a beautiful flower portrait. I think the effects added in post-processing really compliment the subject well.

I really love the effect of the led lights on the Hydrangea, particularly the way it brought out the veining in the leaves. This is well composed and exposed as well, and it looks great against the true, dark background.

I really love the way the background colors blend together in this photo. Excellent aperture choice and focus placement to make that one tiny dewdrop stand out so well, there is no doubt exactly where the photographer wants to draw the viewer's eye.
