A Walk Through The Woods

October 2020

There were many photos submitted with children in the composition. I liked this shot especially. because of the expression on the boy's face and the sharpness of the child's image.in contrast to the rest of the photo. Allied to this is the attitude of the dog behind the boy - it just wants to get on with the walk!

There were quite a few wildlife photos among the entries but most did not suggest that the camera man woman was actually on a walk. In this shot the deers's startled expressions suggests the sudden appearance of a walker. A wonderfully composed shot taken at exactly the right moment before the deer scattered.

The Husky is the star of this composition. I love the way the eye is immediately drawn to the dog and then gradually moves diagonally across the frame through the sunlight to the shadowy walkers who may or may not be the owners of the animal. This is superb moody picture which in my estimation deserves first place

This photograph, in contrast to most other entries, invokes the experience of walking on a rain lashed day . I love the muted colours and the texture of the picture. It seems that we are gazing at the scene through a water streaked screen

A very strong composition with the trees framing the beautiful twisted outlines of the Kissing Gates. The photograph gives the impression that the observer is about to leave the dark wood and enter the sunlit world beyond.. A great, well exposed photograph

In my view this photo suggests the joy of walking as expressed in the smiles on the faces of the couple in the shot. They are framed by the flowers in the foreground as they seem to be walking uphill. A very uplifting picture.

I couldn't help smiling at this photo together with its caption!. Perhaps the subject could not appreciate the wood because it was near dark, but in this perfectly executed portrait I would suggest that he would be more interested in his smartphone whatever the time of day!

This porter certainly gives another dimension to 'walking in the woods'. Despite the weight of his pack, his smile lights up the photograph. This picture would have been in my top ten if the figure had been better exposed to reveal more details of his attire
