The consistent colour palette on this image is absolutely fantastic, from the background to the matching yellows on the branch and mantis. The pose is so aesthetically pleasing, with a great depth of field and I love the subtle reflections on the eyes.

Light like this can be so challenging to work with for both your exposure and white balance but you've absolutely nailed it! The composition is gorgeous with the lights and roof acting as a partial frame and I love how well the colours pop under the artificial lighting.

Insects and smaller animals can often be challenging when it comes to trying to show personality in images but you've done it really well here. I love how the leaf acts as a frame and draws you into those striking eyes.

Spiders can really creep some people out, me included, but I absolutely love the intricate details on this image: you've captured every hair, bump and crease perfectly and the lighting is spot on. The symmetry works so well that I simply can't fault it!

The colours on this chameleon are just incredible and you've captured it so well: every spike, scale and bump has the most fantastic detail and sharpness and the eyes are so striking. You can't help but explore every inch of this image.

The iridescence on this image is just fantastic and the fish pop so well against that black background. I love the detail and although some fish are out of focus, I think this leads to a better overall image with just a handful that really stand out from the crowd.

You're absolutely right to identify the interaction as something that stands out in this image as it's the very first thing I noticed too and it makes the image so engaging! The exposure, depth of field and composition are spot on too.

The lighting is so divine in this image and I love that you've opted for a blacked out background as it works so well to accentuate every little detail on the scales. The reflection in the eyes complete the image for me.

Talk about perfect timing! I love the pose you've captured this chameleon in with one foot raised and the outstretched tail. The exposure, lighting and backdrop are spot on and despite the subject being centralised, the composition works really well.

What an incredibly striking gecko. I love how you've captured what appears to be a smile and those eyes have so much detail and beautiful colour. The shallow depth of field works so well to ensure the surroundings don't distract away from such a beautiful subject.

The shallow depth of field is what makes this image really stand out for me, with those gorgeous eyes and striking detail along the focal plane. The colours contrast so well with the branch acting as a leading line to draw you in.

Insects are such expressive animals and you've captured that so well here. The white background removes any potential distractions and really draws you into this handsome mantis. The light is fantastic and I truly love the composition with it centralised rather than offset.

The shallow depth of field makes this image as any more would've introduced potentially distracting elements. The emphasis on those eyes is fantastic and those incredible markings are captivating. The composition works really well with great exposure, focus and an aesthetically pleasing colour palette.

The lighting on this image is incredible and I love how it highlights the eye and the intricate details on the scales. You couldn't have done anything to improve this image further in terms of settings but the D90 isn't always kind in low light so I'd consider running this through some de-noise software to see if it helps.

Let's hear it for the ferrets, the stick insects, the gerbils and the poison dart frogs! Why do the cats and dogs always get the press? There's a wonderful world of other pets out there, lounging under their heatlamps, wrapped around their branches and exploring their terraria. To keep it simple, any image submitted must be of a pet animal, not a farmed animal, and no cats or dogs.
