Amongst the Poppies

So easy to miss, but so difficult to capture. I love the light shining on the poppies and the rusty stems. Then the starlings are looking around, obviously wondering what it all means. I love the detail in the starlings feathers too. Thank you for entering this competition.

This photograph is just beautiful. The piercing eyes are focused, yet thoughtful. The blowing poppies give it movement, yet that movement is halted by the shutter speed. The colour is good and so natural too. A special moment in time. Thank you.

I like this. The blood red poppies pouring down from the tower evokes a sadness. The black and white castle works so well and sets off the poppies. At first the angle didn't work for me, but it made me look more into the photograph, and then it grew on me. Thank you.

This photograph provoked the most thoughtful moments of judging this competition. The rays of light pouring in from the top corner lead your eye to the centre and make you wonder if it is a burial mound. Well done for seeing it and for capturing it in a perfect light. Thank you.

Now this photograph has so much in it. So much to look at and to think about. The best part are the silhouettes of the people looking, yet also brings to mind the soldiers who went to war, and those who didn't come home, who we never got to meet. Thank you.
