Such a wonderful image. It's a study in shape and contrast. The natural form of the leafless tree contrasted against the stark white and yellow wall is just great. Definitely transforms architecture to its most minimalist, and interesting form. The open rust red window is perfectly placed and also creates a literal opening into the image. Great competition. Great shot.
I love the forms and shapes of this image. Definitely takes architecture to the next level. I only wish that I couldn't see through the building. On the lower left part of the frame the viewer can see the window on the other side of the building. This small imperfection affects the way the rest of the image flows so gracefully. Wonderful photograph though!!
I absolutely love the stark simplicity of this image. The black and white contrast creates pure form from pylons and cables. The images feels active, like it's splashing out at the viewer. The cables form an intricate and vibrant movement that feels totally natural. Almost anthropomorphic in nature. Such a great shot. Well done!
Another image I loved from the first time I saw it. I love it for its simple elegance. The concentric oval shapes created by looking up the staircase is nothing but hypnotic. The lack of color only enhances the shapes created here. The placement of the ceiling is also wonderful within the frame of the shot and creates a second level of movement for the viewers eye.
Love this image so much. I get lost in the flow of the pattern and color. This image takes architectural patterns to a new level. The shapes created by the patterns flow. beautifully. The viewers eye gets lost in the unexpected symmetry created here. The absence of color save the blue, white and black forces the viewer to only see the forms and shapes created here. Well done!

Graphically interesting and colorful. This shot was one of my favorites. Simplicity comprised of color, texture, light and shadow create an engaging architectural dance. The collection of triangular windows creates its own abstract design that's beautiful to look at. The cropping is good and the linear composition is perfectly aligned. Well done!

Love this simple and yet visually complex image with it's perfect symmetry with both form and light. The right side of the frame is perfectly stepped back to the back wall, while the left side steps back to total darkness. There is just enough light to allow the viewer to see back into the darkness. If I could ask for anything to improve this image it would be to have a bit more light (or exposure) on the left side of the frame. Great composition!!!
I loved this image from the first time I saw it. The perfect reflection of the building in the water that surrounds this creates a wonderful oval shape with another shape with in that. The patterns of the windows themselves ad another layer to this great shot. Definitely transforms the architectural form to art.

Definitely one of my favorite shots of the bunch. Many folks chose this Chicago building for their entry. This shot transformed the shapes perfectly into a work of art all its own. The contrast of black and white, combined with the repetitive shapes of the balconies creates at beautiful tableau of graphic detail.
This hypnotic image of waves of blue forms and balconies takes architecture photography to the next level. The deep blue colors with only lighter blue as the accent color is a pleasure to gaze upon. There is flow and and visual interest in letting your eye move along the surfaces.. The relative sharp focus throughout the image is also wonderful. Great architectural detail shot!

Great fun can be had getting involved in the details and patterns that architects have designed into their buildings. Discard the clutter of life that surrounds a building, and focus instead on the intricacies of its construction, the intersecting elements, the repetition, and the flourishes that have been added. From that can come clean, often abstract, studies of our built environment that are both interesting to shoot and pleasing to the eye.
I love the color and shapes in this image! A flat wall with cut outs is transformed into a visually complex work of art. The composition is wonderful. I also enjoy the shape created by the reflection in the window of the door in the cut out on the lower left; it ads to all the other shapes created with paint color and windows. Such a great shot!
