A simple composition showing a close-up of three bananas which attracted my attention. The narrow aperture has ensured much of the subject is in focus, with textures on the skin of the banana well captured, looking very realistic and clearly bringing to mind the unique feel of banana skin. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

A vibrant environmental portrait image, with some lovely colour contrasts between the red clothing and the vivid green bananas. The shot looks to be posed to some extent, but I am sure the situation is real, and this worker has been nicely captured as she expertly carries the heavy load atop her head. Despite the lighting looking to be mainly from behind/overhead, the shadows have been lifted sufficiently to ensure the face is not in deep shadow. Well done on your top ten placing.

I am not usually a great fan of images that play around and pose food in amusing compositions, but this one caught my eye and I felt it deserved to be placed. Photographically well executed with regard to composition, focus, lighting etc, but it is the set-up and creative idea behind the shot that should get most credit. What I especially like, which unfortunately would possibly go unnoticed by many is the "audience" of vegetables behind the ring-side ropes - either a genius touch or a sign of someone with too much time on their hands!! Super image, well done on your top ten placing.

Although relatively small in the frame, the bananas on this night market are a key focus as a result of the illumination inside the market. This serves to draw the viewers eye into the image to the street scene across the road. Everything looks natural with no harsh processing effects, which would likely have made this image look quite garish. The group of people add interest to the shot but do not dominate. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

This is a fabulous character portrait. Although captured relatively close-in, by including the stalk of bananas in the frame we get a real sense of the context and the environment in which this gent works. Probably shot with limited opportunity to direct your subject, it is a very successful shot. Lighting looks natural, and the subject is in sharp focus, set against a softened backdrop. Congratulations on your second place finish.

I love this shot.....bananas is what I asked for and bananas is what I got! Filling the entire frame with the subject adds impact to the image. Some may find a shot such as this lacking any main focal point, but for me there is such an abundance of detail, wherever the eye falls, there is plenty to explore and enjoy. I especially like that we have bananas of varying ripeness with corresponding colour variation, which adds to the success of the picture. Congratulations on your winning image.

Anyone who has only seen bananas on the shelf in the local supermarket will no doubt be impressed by this vast mound of bananas, possibly in some market/wholesale setting. The composition is rather unusual, with the figure in the very top corner of the image, but this works well here as it highlights the contrast in scale between the one small figure and the multitude of fruit. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

A great image looking down on a large collection of bananas, made quite abstract by filling the frame entirely with the subject, the viewpoint and by the subject itself, which at a quick glance could look like a large bunch of flowers. Being picky I may have been tempted to reduce the vignetting slightly and maybe boost saturation slightly, as it looks to be over-darkening the image a little. I appreciate this is very muh personal style however, and still a fabulous shot. Congratulations on your third place finish.

A great abstract, with lovely ripe yellow bananas filling the frame. It reminds me of the type of photo seen on challenging jig-saw puzzles where every piece looks virtually identical!. Good lighting, looking nicely diffused with no harsh highlights or shadows to show off the fruit at its best. Well done on your top ten placing.

This rather unusual image drew my attention and was one I kept coming back to when deciding the placings. Well seen and captured at just the right moment as the inquisitive pigeon investigates a discarded banana. The subject is equally mundane and out of the ordinary, and that adds to the appeal. The bright yellow fruit stands out nicely against the rather grimy grey backdrop. Well done on your top ten placing.
