Barns

Love this image. The moodiness with the dark foreground married to the barn's stone and wood is nice in itself. But then the background just enhances it that much more, again with a mood and wickedness that really makes this a beautiful photograph. Very well done.

The house, the barn, both located in an otherwise empty prairie. Then, looming in the distance are snow covered peaks from a mountain range that shows just how small the world in front of it is. The clouds mask just enough of the mountains to show drama, yet just enough of the mountains are shown to show their rugged beauty. Good job.

Nice out-of-the-box thinking. Love the image, the lighted centerpiece, the contrast. Black and white fits perfectly and it is very well done. I struggled with this image as my favorite, because it is so well done. If I could have picked two first place this would easily have been there.

I am a fan of simple photographs. This image is a perfect example of how simplicity works when it is framed correctly. The water and sky being the same with the thin veil of fog/mist along the center really makes the small barn stand out, and the red colors of the windows and door make it pop. I like the fact that the water is not done over a super long exposure, as the rippled reflection is perfect.

A work that displays the rule of thirds. A work that displays leading lines to the subject. A work that displays simplicity. A work that has negative space in the proper location. All are elements that make a winning image, and all the elements are in this photo.

A simple photograph. A simple subject of a simple barn. Very clean appeal and the foreground leading to the clarity shows leading lines are not always necessary to take the viewer's eyes to the subject. An uninteresting sky is the only thing I am apprehensive about in the photo, but it is not a deal breaker in making this a great image.
