Attention Everyone: If you want a good ranking, read the brief. Many photos submitted had the sun clearly visible, and some photos lacked colour.
This photo is the best example of the brief specifications. There are no distracting subjects, the colour is stunning and reflected in the water, and the exposure is perfect. There were many beautiful photos submitted, but did not meet the requirements of the brief. This one wins the #1 rating. Great shot!

The golden colour of the sky and water is dream-like. The composition is superb. Timing is excellent. The tree obstructs the view of the scene, but the setting and the colour are so beautiful that this picture merits a Top Ten rating. Seeing this picture makes me want to go to Sweden just to duplicate this wonderful scene.
This is another outstanding picture that did not follow the brief guidelines, but the late timing, the glorious color, and the stark contrast are alluring. This photo went from "Merit" to Top Ten over the course of a week because it presented the assignment in a wonderfully different way. I don't like "Bullseye" photos with a subject centered, but I remain mesmerized with this elegant photo.
I love the way the picture opens up to the left. The light and colour are exceptional. The split frame composition for the reflection is perfect. The house and cars detract, but I did not notice them until after reviewing the picture several times. The unusual, multi-coloured cloud formations are wonderful to see.
Like the previous photo (#5), there is subject matter; but it pulls the viewer into the setting to marvel at the incredible colour of this scene. The intersecting lines are well composed. Waterlines are supposed to be horizontal, but the slight upward angle in this photo works very well. Even the three lights at the far left add to the scene. Wonderful shot Mate!

This Australian picture is a beautiful oxymoron. The brief discourages distracting subjects, but the birds create patterns on the water that give the picture "movement." The timing, colour, and composition are spot on. If this was my photo, I would dodge the windows of the house on the left. However, you have to look at the picture for quite a while until your thoughts shift to the house. Beautiful picture.

This contest is for your spectacular and most colourful photos of scenic views taken over water just before the sun appears in the morning or just after it sets in the evening. Any water such as lakes, oceans, ponds, wet surfaces, etc. is acceptable. Timing is important for obtaining the most vivid colours with lighting and colour being more important than subject matter in the picture. In fact, subjects that distract from the scene are less desirable, so let the light be the theme of your entry. Colour photos only, please.
