The framing/composition, control of depth of field, and proper exposure turn a simple photo of a worn pedal into a work of art. This is pleasing to my eye and reminds me of hours and hours spent on my bicycle both as a child and adult that would result in pedals with that hard working look. Excellent work!
As my eyes traverse this photo they land first on the medallion and then the tire, and then they explore the background. It's an excellent journey. This photo has depth, provided by the background and the stones of the floor and the subject separation, and an interesting composition, provided by the tire, rim, spokes, fork, and medallion. Excellent work!
This photo brings a smile to my face. A man living a lifestyle that the part of the world I comes from would see as simple and antiquated, but may be normal where he comes from. Squatting in a position many westerners can't get into or up from without assistance, working an open flame that would be considered a safety violation in western companies and no bike shop in the USA would consider safe - he's probably repairing a part that would just be replaced here. And yet - I'm sure this is a functional bike shop providing his family with an honest living and he is valued within his community by the people who depend on his skills for their transportation and to keep themselves functional in their hobby. This is more than a fork being mended in a fire... it speaks to a lifestyle that is foreign to many. Thank you for sharing this excellent work.
Where do I start? The chaotic arrangement of similar shapes with contrasting colors that you've captured is good for my brain. I would hang this on a wall. It's just good.
The pattern seems so chaotic at first, but follow the angles from top left to bottom right and it's easy to find a loose organization that may explain why this composition of seemingly randomly placed sprockets is pleasing to look at. Excellent work, thank you for sharing!
I can't write much about this. At first I thought "the quality isn't good" but whichever techniques you've used to achieve this final look - I eventually settled on this is deliberate and is a display of great skill. I love this work and I can't overstate how much the bright red front fork's shocking contrast compared to the more neutral browns and silvers of the spokes and pedals makes this photo work. This is excellent. Thank you for sharing your work.
This is an excellent photo. Excellent framing, excellent exposure, excellent choice of subject. The low key nature of this photo with the light brightening the parts that look like they are chrome or silver in color is amazing. When I look at this from an abstract perspective, the arrangement of shapes is very pleasing to my eye. Excellent work!
The intentional motion blur and high contrast black and white look of this photo make a commendable photo into a highly commendable photo that was a contender for top 10. The brick background and bicycle sign in the lower right give this photo an excellent vibe that reminds of people for whom the bicycle isn't just a hobby but is a lifestyle choice. Thank you for sharing your excellent work!
This beautiful, well worn, vintage bicycle turned business signage has many textures captured beautifully in front of a beautifully aged brick wall. I love every texture and color in this photo, and your pleasing photographic choices have made this a highly commendable contender for top 10. Thank you for sharing this excellent work.
Radiating out from the lower right corner, the patterns of teeth draw my eye away from the back end of the rear fork in a pleasing way. This pleasing composition, even exposure, and black and white color profile turn an ordinary set of rear gears into a wall worthy, highly commendable piece of art. Thank you for sharing your excellent work!
This unique perspective turns these wheels into an interesting tunnel. The black of the tires, the orange of the reflectors, and the silver of the rims make a nice color scheme, and the pattern created by the tires/rims as they recede into the distance make this an awesome composition. Thank you for sharing your work.
Congratulations on 1st place!
What can I say aside from there’s a lot going on in this photo and it’s extremely satisfying to look at. You’ve got the tunnel effect stretching into the distance, the patters created by the perspective on the tires and rims, and the choice to make it black and white also helps. I think if there were color my brain would perceive it differently. Thank you for sharing your work!

As a sucker for repeating patterns and photographic minimalism this photo captivates my attention every time I see it. From the pleasing contrast provided by the black, red, and grey/silver tones in the photo, to the repeating shapes offered by seats, their posts, and red and black fenders I can't help but enjoy this work of art. Excellent work!
This well composed photo exhibits an excellent knowledge of composition and depth of field. The placement of the bell with the bike computer slightly more in the foreground with the rest of the handlebars in the middle ground and the rest of the scene in the background give this photo depth. The smooth lens blur provides nice subject separation. Great work!
Let's talk about the penny farthing in the room! :) When I look at this photo my eyes tend to focus on the enormous front wheel of the largest penny farthing in the photo. The other bikes on the ground - with their old-school (bike on the left) and antiquated (the other penny farthing on the right) designs frame that penny farthing nicely, especially with the assistance of the more modern bicycles hanging from the wall or ceiling. The choice to render this in black and white lends to the antique feel of this photo. Excellent job!
