This is my hometown so I'm very familar with this view. It's also a viewpoint that's shot over and over again, normally in a dull way. But this shot works purely becuase of the sun and the light. I imagine that a few seconds earlier or later, with the sun a degree higher or lower in the sky, the shot wouldn’t have worked so well. Timing is everything in photography and looking into the light is brave but when done right, can pay off. Nice one, thank you !
This image has got a lot going for it, the lights from the bus really add to the composition and drama, as does the viewpoint under the arch. But it could be bettered by shooting earlier in the evening, when the sky still has some blue in it. Not that I condone moving signs..but I may have tried to move the blue sign to the left, out of shot, and of course put it back again. But sometimes these things are not practical and we have to work around them. Sorry to criticise, but it is my job to judge and pass comment !
This is almost there as a good shot. But I'm distracted by it's wonkiness. If a viewer is distracted by something, it takes the impactof the image away. SOmetimes in camera you don't get things lined up or precisely straight but it's a quick simple task in any imaging software. There's the right amount of mist and this is such a photogenic bridge because of it's stature/engineering but the fact it's red really helps u s photographers.
I like this gentle landscape, the Lake District is one of my favourite places in the world. You're not the only person that does this - so I'm sorry to single you out. But if you enter a photo competition, where images are judged, please don't put logos on them. This one, because it's red, is really distracting.. It;s the first thing my eye was drawn to. On your 'puppy dog hotel' website or social media - yes the logo is part of the message, completely in keeping, relevant and a useful marketiing tool. But here it's out of place, nd too distracting. Sorry.
This is lovely. I can see from what you've written that you put a lot of thought into when and how. You may have wanted the sun to be bang on central but the fact it's off centre works for me because it breaks up the symmetry. If everything was symmetrical it may have looked less 'real' and too perfect. There are apps which can give you precise sunset angles for a given latitude and longitude so if you realy want it centred, my guess would be it would happen a few days later than this. Great shot though, keep putting in all that effort and planning, it always pays off
There were quite a few shots of the same or similar subject. This one stood out becuase the composition is tight, the light is lovely but mainly the sillhouette is bang on, his body is clearly defined. Timing is everything in photography and the skill is to click the shutter when the composition and subject falls into place. I don’t know if you took loads seconds before or after this moment, to be honest it doesn’t matter what it takes to get the shot, the important thing is getting the shot ! So well done, nicely seen, exposed and composed.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time ! This is lovely. Beautiful composition, colour, contrast, depth. Having the mist but also keeping detail in the intricate engineering steelwork is what makes it work, if that gondola was ever so slightly more in the mist, I wonder if it would work so well. It's gorgeous
This is stunning in so many ways -the composition, the light trails and the lovely sweeping shape they make, the starry sky, the half light, the shadowy detail on the rocks. I see you had to put in effort to get there (unilke pulling up in the 'photograph the Golden Gate Bridge from here' car park ! This isn't why you won but as a pro I salute you ; often we need to put a lot of effort into a shot which may to the viewer seem easy. I also like that you haven't over manipulated things in Photoshop and for that reason it looks real. I've hiked to spots for night shots before, once I forgot a torch for the way back (pre mobile phones with torches days) - never do that again ! So take care on your night time trails but please keep doing it - this is lovely and really stood out

Wow. I love this - it's telling a story, it's a moment in time, it's beautifully timed, it's got movement plus it's simple. Yet effective. A really nice shot all round. I wonder if you waited for an aeroplane or if that one just happened to help you out - whichever it doesn't matter. Keep looking up that's what I say !

If it spans a gap, then we’re calling it a bridge or a crossing, and that means anything from logs strung together across a stream, to the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge, currently the longest in the world at 16.5km! *This contest is open to Photocrowd subscribers (Challenger/Pro/Master), or by purchasing entries.*

This is lovely. Great sky and light aside, the composition works : the eye is drawn in and follows the bridge in and out of shot. It’s a very popular bridge to shoot but this shot is a bit more exciting and dynamic than most because it fills the frame and offers a bit more story and interest with the low tide mud and viewpoint highlighting it’s engineering and structure. The low sun and the light catching the concrete while the mud is in shadow is vital to this shot working.
I like this because the composition is good and tight but also because there's soemthing else going on. The Forth Bridge is photographed to death, normally it's just the bridge, this one has more to it. It's a great depiction of what that bridge and it's relationship with the Forth is about. Great images have to be more than just a scene, and this is. Nice one !
