**Open to photographers with a gold or silver ranking. There are two other 'Brutalist architecture' contests currently open to other ranks. Take a look at the leaderboard for more information on Photocrowd rankings.** Brutalism is a style of architecture that emerged out of the early-20th century Modernist movement and saw a peak in popularity in the 50s and 60s. These buildings are characterised for their monolithic, geometric style and large-scale use of poured concrete. The unusual shapes, rough, unfinished surfaces and modular elements make Brutalist architecture a striking challenge for photographers looking to hone their skills.
