Calm is a feeling and this image certainly evokes that sense.. The painterly quality is helped by the natural conditions of the mist and morning glow with the light clipping the autumnal surrounding shoreline of the reservoir and the three boats. I can certainly feel the calmness in this image.

Minimalistic view of a winter sunset on a still lake making for a pleasing capture of calm. Almost pastel colours in clear conditions bringing out the dimensions of the platform subject in the foreground. A wonderful simple composition that makes the image striking upon viewing with complimentary colours.
Subtle tones of colour under a monochromatic sky and the lead in lines of the jetty make for a sense of calm upon a still lake. Lovely foreground wisp of cloud and light bringing out the texture of the walkway towards mid ground shadow before brown reeds and the green of the land in the distance reflected in the water.
