I dread to think how long it took to get this photo. The framing of it is superb. I was on holiday here last February and so can perfectly place where this photo is taken from. You couldn't get this photo currently as the castle is covered in scaffold, but its all part of the restoration. I don't think I have seen such a clean looking seagull. Part of my worries that this photo has been photo-shopped and one photo just laid over the other but i'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt
What a stunning castle. To catch this photo with the tide in & the boats tied up so haphazardly. I love the way the lights reflect in the water, it almost makes the castle look like it is on fire. This fortress holds a special place for myself and my partner. We had a holiday here 2 years ago and stayed in a BnB which backs onto the town walls. Our balcony was actually part of the wall. Thank you for making my day and posting this picture.

This contest is for photographs of castles. Your image can show the whole castle or just part of it, a castle in the landscape, or maybe an aerial shot of a castle. The castle can be large or small and in any part of the world. However, I am not looking for views taken from the castle walls, so the castle must be visible in the photo.

Is there a better backdrop for a cricket game? There is only one other place in the country that a shot like this could be achieved (that being Arundel). In days gone by the castle was used as the clubhouse. I don't believe that this is the case any more. Anyone ever got a six over the wall? I really like how much the cricket players stand out. Without the game taking place, the immense amount of green could detract from the castle
The bleakness of this photo really sums up what life must have been like living in a remote castle. The mist swirling around, the constant damp. It cannot have been easy. The position of this castle is very precarious, but this means that it will have been very difficult to attack. I really like the setting and the untamed nature of the castle, which is why it has made my top 10
