Churches and churchyards

It was a very tough fight but this picture has all it takes. The scenary is wonderfull : the trees, the mountains, a beautiful land of grass... The lightning is amazing and enhances the colours in a magnificient way; this little chapel standing in the middle of all that, nicely placed... This could only work out well. Wonderful job on this one and congratulations.

This shot touched me a lot. I think it was, first of all, a clever approach to take the contest, but the photo is also well taken. The pose of the statue works well and the rose give a little bit of light to an otherwise pretty dull picture. Also, the blurry background with the graves gives a very melancholic field to it.

There are many good things about this shot. First, the framing works well. The way the crosses are aligned is coherent and gives depth to the picture. Then, the girl's pose, outfit, make-up and hair are a nice touch and contribute to the gloomy and gothic ambiance of the shot. Finally, everything is enhanced by the smoke that runs over the subject and this is, to my mind, a clever element to add.

The edition on that one makes it look so old school and I think it works well. The sepia filter plays a great part in it but also the way the ghost is edited makes the whole thing looking coherent. Even though the idea of a ghost in a cemetery is nothing new, the edition makes this piece stand out.

The rendering of this picture is great. I really like the texture, I like the contrast between the black and the white but most of all the blue of the window gives it a very nice touch. I think the working for this image was well done and I liked it a lot even though the "church" aspect isn't really obvious.

This picture is really cool. It reminds me so much of a Dali painting that I couldn't just skip it. I think everything works fine in it. The colours are good, the kind of melting aspect renders pretty well, and the blue and white of the church makes it really pop out of the rest. Even though I think the purple of the sky and the fact that the moon is the only well shaped thing is questionable, I really like that one.

I like this picture for many reasons. First of all, the framing looks great and the way it was shot makes the basilica look just majestic. Secondly, the contrast of the colour of the pillars with the roofs, the floor and the sky is just great, so the colours work really well here. Finally, I can't help but think that it looks so much like the training room in Dragon Ball Z, so I love it even more.
