Coastal photography

Coastal photography is a complicated effort With a strong focal point, balanced exposure levels across the image, rich detail, a full frame, and pleasing angles, this image brings together the challenges into an impressive image.

With a rich colorful sunset sky and the sun star from the light of the lighthouse also serves as a strong focal point.

We have movement in the crashing waves and water running down the rocks, along with varied tones and detail across the foreground of the image in the rocks.

This photo brings together the best in the challenges of a great Coastal Photography image.

I love the perspective here. We have an image that is clearly of a magnificent coast, with the towering cliffs, and people dotted along the image which give it a grand sense of scale.

There's some great form in the lines fo the cliff, the clouds and the horizons which fill the frame well - often tricky in coastal photography.

The lighthouse and the nearby couple holding hands add to the focus and the story of the image, giving us a wonderful and complete image.

This is one of the stronger entries for the Coastal Photography competition, and one of the more unique.

While there were hundreds of sunsets and beach landscapes, this image found a niche with ethereal coastal vista and a strong subject.

I love the soft tones, and the airy-ness here. The glassy waters and the misty mountains.

This image was different than many of the other submissions. What I really loved about this is that it has such a strong feeling of place to it.

Without being overly edited, this photograph tells a story of the beach. With a wonderful sky, and a trio of seagulls, this image uses complementary colors, strong lines and even placed design elements for form a simple, beautiful image that takes me somewhere.
