Faded Grandeur

This image stood out because it takes a different approach to the theme, showing a natural subject. It's very atmospheric and there's an incredible level of detail in the tree itself, which would have been lost into the background on a clear day.

There were lots of images of Pompeii in this contest, but this one really stood out. The composition is excellent, stacking different shapes on top of each other. The lighting just transforms the scene, bringing out all of the textures in the brickwork.

Brighton Pier has been a popular subject in this contest, and I can see why. The contrast between the dark, angular pier and the flowing pastels of the water demands attention. This one particularly stood out because of the gorgeous sky and the way that thr colours are arranged in horizontal stripes.

Congratulations on this striking image. The use of light really elevates the grafittied concrete in the subject, making it look almost ethereal, while the dark areas provide a frame. It's difficult to tell what the building once was, but the mystery just makes it more engaging.

This image caught my eye because of how it juxtaposes classical sculpture with the slightly ridiculous. There's something noble and tragic about the statue's expression, but at the same time it looks like it has a googly eye. The angle is excellent, showing the damage to the statue, while also evoking a zombie movie.
