Feathers

A very tough competition to judge and I really deliberated over the top ten images. This shot though stood out to me in a variety of ways and for me captured the essence of my hopes for this brief. There were many submissions of peacock feathers but this one was presented in a very different manner and by far my favourite of all the peacock entires. I was instantly drawn to it and couldn't stop coming back to it. A truly spectacular capture. WELL DONE.

Many focus on the "eye" of the feather and often forget the lower strands. What I love about this shot is its simple yet effective and truly captivating with the colours glistening on the black background. Perfect. WELL DONE.

The comparison in size with the coin is a great idea - really shows the smallness of the feather - my only personal thought would to of brought the feather tones up and lower the coins to give it a slight blur so all focus is on the feather but this is purely personal. Cracking shot. WELL DONE.

A beautifully presented image that narrowly missed out in the top ten.
I love everything about this image - beautiful contrast, framing and conveyance of colour without having colour present in the shot. The grey textures really work well especially drawing attention to the tips of the feathers. Beautiful. well done
