Moving water offers an opportunity to hone your mastery of shutter speed, and to be pleasantly surprised in the process. Fast speeds freeze the cascading torrents of a waterfall, giving a glimpse of this natural wonder that is otherwise off limits to the naked eye. Long shutter speeds can calm a shifting sea, turning it into an opaque, milky blanket with a ghostlike feel.
