This photo shows the spaniels environment beautifully well, along with the dog to the right of the photo. The spaniel looking to the right draws your attention to the scene in the background, but the right depth of field doesn't distract from the main purpose of the photo (which should be the dog) A photo that caught my eye and stayed with me for the right reasons. The sweeping hills, lake, trees and dog all come together very well.
Older dogs still know how to have fun! This photo clearly shows how much he/she loves his/her ball. I like the central positioning of the dog and ball, with the head tilted slightly up, emphasising the enjoyment of the ball. Focus is clear around the eyes and white muzzle. If the focus had been on the ball the effect would not have been as dramatic. The photo is almost 3D, drawing you in.

I love this photo. Clearly both lab and child are really enjoying their time together and really ties in with the theme "For the Love of Dogs" You can see this in both their faces. Nothing distracts from the three main elements, which is child, water and dog which I like. I wish that the image was sharper which could have pulled everything together, however, the action in the photo is what made it into my top ten.
This is a very different photo from most of the others. It shows a sad difficult situation, however the lady is still taking the time to save her dog. She could let it swim, or leave it behind, but the love she has resulted in this dynamic image. A powerful "for the love of dogs" photo that stands out from the crowd.

I like the composition here. The yellow labs against the bright yellow wall on the top step of the wooden stairs is an interesting one and I wouldn't mind as an art piece on my wall. The fact that they are puppies makes the photo more impressive as they don't stand around for long! The focus seems to be on the wall which is a shame, but it doesn't distract too much from the overall effect.
