There is certainly no mistaking that the subject of this image is green food! Simple but effective, making the most of the subject to perfectly portray runner beans. Great lighting with good balance between light and shadow areas, with the shadows not being too dark as to be overpowering but allowing the form and texture of the beans to be revealed. Composition works well, with most of the beans on a diagonal across the frame and just one bean positioned differently to act as a focal point. Great work, well done on your top ten placing. Angela

I am looking for your colour photos of food that is green. It could be anything from a crisp green apple, green frosting on a cupcake or a bowl of pea soup. Green should be the dominant colour of the subject and please try to avoid entries that have had the colour altered to green in photo editing. Please only enter colour photos. I look forward to seeing your entries.

What made this image stand out for me is the vibrant but natural-looking greens set against the dark backdrop and bowl, and contrasting against the red of the bacon. The key to great food photography is making sure the food looks delicious and tempting to eat, and you have certainly achieved that here. The set up works well, including a few different elements without looking too forced. Congratulations on your winning image.

Superb lighting really makes this shot. Lit from behind not only highlights all the textures of the furry edges of the pea pods, but also the translucency of the pods to reveal the maturing peas within. Turning the background black really makes the subject stand out, with the natural greens of the vegetables bold but not overly so. Congratulations on your second place finish.

I love images like this, where the photographer is not trying to make the subject something other than what it is; just a pineapple set against an unobtrusive backdrop, allowing full focus to be on the single subject. Lighting is good, looking to likely be natural light, picking out details and textures throughout the surface of the fruit. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

Special credit here not only to your photography but also your slicing skills, in getting the cucumber so neatly and thinly sliced! It is extremely difficult when photographing slices of food such as this to avoid miniscule fragments of dirt and dust that are not easily spotted with the naked eye but can spoil a photo, but you have managed to steer well clear of such unwanted additions here. Everything is clean, fresh, precise and natural-looking; just how it should be. Congratulations on your third place finish.
