The golden colours of the corn are captured so well in this picture showing the cobs ready for harvest. Although it seems strange to pick a photo of dying plants as the winner, it underlines the utilitarian nature of crops. A stunning picture full of atmosphere. I can almost smell the drying leaves...

Simple but really effective. The black of the tree silhouette stands out really nicely against the yellow rapeseed flowers and blue sky . It also shows the respect many farmers still have for nature. In more intensive systems, the tree would have been removed. A great picture.

This picture makes you feel the warmth of the rapidly disappearing sun. A great capture of the sugarcane flower silhouettes which reminds us that this crop is a grass. The little peek of sunlight through the dark leaves is also a nice touch.

This is a great capture from above showing the extent to which many farmers in the world go to tend to their crops. The farmer's yellow shirt stands out nicely against the green colours surrounding him. Well done on shooting a great picture..

Creating minimalism when photographing nature can be hard when not at macro level. However, this picture is a great example of how this can be achieved looking at whole crops. A very nice picture of the relation between plant and machine.

A great landscape with a really nice capture of the light playing over the crop canopy. It gives the whole scene something magical. The weeds on the foreground prevent the view of the monoculture becoming too boring. Very nice cloudscape too.

How often do we think about the effort and labour that went into our daily cup of tea? This is a great portrait not only of the crop but also of the picker who seems to be enjoying her job despite the moist conditions. A nice capture.

Making the most of the colours and the alignment of this crop , this is a very pleasing picture. I particularly also like the detail of the missing head of lettuce underlining that nothing in nature is perfect not even in intensive farming systems such as this. Great work.

Many photos are taken of individual plants, especially flowers, often in gardens and other ornamental settings. In contrast, this competition is about the larger scale, commercial cultivation of plants. Any pictures of crops grown for commercial purposes for any use (food and drink , industrial processing, ornamental use) from any part of the world are suitable for entry into the contest. I am looking for artistic impressions of growing crops (not harvested ones) anywhere from fields, glasshouses, orchards to vineyards. Please include multiple plants (the more the better) and don't enter pictures of gardens, allotments, markets or harvested produce. Good luck!
