As I've said before, I love the simple shots like this that would pass most of us by. I very much like the shallow depth of field you've utilised here to capture the detail on the back of the seat, ensuring the seat handle takes centre stage. I also think the shot of yellow to the top left and right cut through the otherwise monochromatic tones rather well and lift the whole image. Well done and many thanks for entering.

Yet another shot that most of us would not spot. Who would think to take such a simple, but effective, shot of a bicycle handle? Again, the narrow depth of field works very well - to ensure the isolation of the subject matter - and the positioning of that old-fashioned bell just tops it off really well. Very nice and many thanks for your entry.

Most definitely the winning image for me the moment I saw it. Composition is superb as is the contrast and the cool colouring tones - but what I like most of all is the shadow detail, replicating the handle - and the key - through the central part of the image. Very nice indeed, well done, and many thanks for entering.

I particularly like the composition on this shot and the overall cool tones of the colours. Maybe for some the positioning of the handle and the fact its left edge has been cut off will be a bugbear, but I very much like it. The shallow depth of field which captures the handle detail on the top also works very well. Again, it's different and I like different. Many thanks for your entry.

What a refreshing change - to see a shot of a fairly unusual door handle from such an angle. A very good spot. Again, I think the use of the shallow depth of field has been utilised to its best advantage, ensuring the viewers' attention remains on the subject matter - the animal's head on the handle itself. I also particularly like the warm tones of the wooden door as well as the stonework that makes an appearance top right. Very nice and many thanks for your entry.

See more contest details

In this contest I would like to see your photos of a handle. This could range from a door handle to the handle of a household appliance and anything in between. Images can be in colour or black and white but the main focus of your image must be a handle. I very much look forward to seeing your entries.

Another shot that I thought was a refreshing change from what may be considered the norm for this contest. I like the dark tones of the door frame and of the handle itself, with just that hint of light from the right that illuminates the subject matter quite nicely. OK, the surface of the door handle might not be in perfect focus, but that doesn't detract too much from the image as far as I'm concerned. Many thanks for your entry.
