I have chosen this image above all other images in this category to win due to it's majestic nature and beauty. It has fantastic symmetry, natural light, depth and visual interest which keeps your attention locked in. The arch just coming into the top of the image, frames it beautifully. Shot at F11 provides great focus across the shot and detail. Distortion has been processed really well seeing as the lens was a wide one, with no converging verticals. Great shot.

A sweet shot of part of a historical room, including the fireplace and sofa. I like the rich colours of this interior, taken straight on to the wall, the wooden panelling holds it all together with good spacing between furniture. A nicely taken shot.

Lots of graphic shapes, texture, depth and interest in this image. The depth of focus has captured all the details, and the centre of the frame is bang central of the skylight. The striking blue colour from the sky, is a great contrast with the yellows of the ceiling.

I was attracted to the simplicity of this image. Sometimes simply curated rooms provide great balance, space, but also displays whats on show perfectly, as here. The throne is rich in colour and well lit, and contrasts very well with the striking blue coloured tiled walls.

Probably one of the best ceiling shots in the whole competition (and there were many indeed). This image just works on so many levels. Drama, lighting, colours, symmetry, balance, interest, detail. Perhaps less of interest in the centre of the ceiling, but more around the sides.

This image was judged 2nd as I was again impressed with the perfect symmetry with how it was framed. The detail is exquisite, as well as exposure and colour balance. Some helpful feedback when shooting ceilings is to try to keep aperture has high as you can and use a tripod to do that so that the image isn't soft at the edge of the frame.

I like the intimacy of this image of an old cobblers workshop. With lots of old tools to keep the viewer interested, there are no modern day additions. Zooming into the window part of the image, you can make out a rural settling and wintry scene which adds to the quaint and old feeling.

A great use of interesting curves and subtle light, you get a great sense of the building and architecture, even though the space shown is quite a small area. The photographer has positioned the top of the stair bannister dead centre of the oval shape behind which I really like.

This is a very strong image with exaggerated converging verticals. Quite a room and as it displays so many book cases, this leads your eye down the lines into the centre and end wall at the bottom of the image. I like to see the small steps either side at the top.

I have chosen this image for the top ten selection because of the subtle lighting, and balance of stair and space. The stairs invite the viewer to take a walk and see what's around the corner. This is always what a great architectural image should try to achieve in my view. The plain alcove also helps add intrigue.

I am not sure what has been used to create the perfect reflection, but it seems too good to be true. But the overall image is great. I could turn the image upside-down and it would look exactly the same. Nicely exposed, perfectly framed with all in focus, what more do you need?

I thought this image cleverly uses the historic stone columns either side of the modern sculpture, framing the figures and provides a nice contrast between old and new. Light from behind and below the sculpture is just enough to silhouette the figures.

Chosen purely for the reflection which has been captured especially well. The roof and arches are the interesting feature, so when they are reflected within the glass, it works really well. I do like to see the figures in the central distance.

This interiors contest is focussing on styles and methods of the past. We could say that that encompasses a broad time period up to and including the 1960s, so we might see a shot of a mediaeval banqueting hall, alongside a Pop-art-inspired living space complete with ball chair and lava lamp.

Wow, what an incredible room of metal mess and rusted confusion. My eyes just don't keep still looking around this shot. The old boilers are really intersting and it makes you understand the scale of operations and past history of the building.
