Hong Kong

One of the many cityscapes entered into this competition and my favourite. Taken I think from Victoria Peak, the beautiful golden light illuminating the Kowloon side gives the image extra depth. Even better is the fact that the eye is drawn to a single tower in direct sunlight giving the image something special. A worthy winner, congratulations.

I enjoy taking these looking up architectural style of shots and enjoyed looking at this image. I think it benefited from the night time long exposure to give the sky a different feel. These shots are notoriously difficult to line up perfectly, especially with wide angle distortion and although not perfect I felt the photographer had done a good job here. Great image and worthy of the top 10

This image is taken over a night market and I really enjoyed it. The two dark walls of buildings enveloping the market give the image an almost abstract quality. I do wonder what it would look like at a slighter wider focal length to give more of a tunnel effect but this is small point and maybe not possible at this location. I really enjoyed this image and had it in my top 3 immediately

I didn’t expect to see an image like this in a Hong Kong photography competition and for that reason it stood out for me. I liked the moody cloud covered peaks and simple composition and for me it demonstrated that there is more to Hong Kong than the skyline. Lovely shot congratulations

If there was one thing that disappointed me with this competition it was the lack of entries showing candid street photography for which Hong Kong is famous. This shot was one of the exceptions, shows an intimate scene of the man working on a watch. I loved the fact that image had a clear subject and really showed the concentration of the man on the task at hand.

Unsurprisingly there were many cityscapes entered into this Hong Kong photo competition but this was one of the ones that stood out for me as one of the best. The original viewpoint had me wondering where it was shot from and the orange glow also caught my eye. I was amazed when I saw this was shot at ISO 12800, great shot
