Juxtaposition

Clever capture of two opposites. I do not know if this was set up but it works so well. The child is very relaxed and totally engaged in his dessert on a stick. The reaction on the face of the art work is a face we all know so well. A child who does not get what he wants! The lucky child in red stands out so well against the black background. Great capture and a deserved top ten selection.

A one off capture by a seasoned street photographer. You have frozen the moment and told a story. There is the obvious juxtaposition between the protester and the police. The woman dressed as a mock animal against the uniforms of authority. But there are more subtle contrasts. The female police officer seems calm and relaxed with her arms behind her back. Her male companion has arms folded in a defiant, defensive stance. The fact that you had to tilt the frame and give it a "dutch tilt" adds to the drama of the moment. A beautifully crafted and composed image. The unified colour scheme works very well with the image star, the shiny black shoes. The small flowers, which look like statice adds a fine balance that is essential to the success of the image. The lighting is very well controlled with minimal shadows. I love the title and the tag #consumption, great job and a worthy top ten selection.

A very striking juxtaposition of two different generations sitting on identical seats separated by one metre but in reality by a huge divide Their pose is so similar, one with a collection box the other a drink can. Their dress codes are spectacularly different and to emphasise that they are not in accord they have crossed opposite legs. Outstanding capture and congratulations on being in my top ten selection.

A minimal simple image but it works with the very clever play on words and the complementary colours. The pears are carefully arranged with the stalk of the centre one pointing at the title, not that we could miss it! Love the idea and the uncluttered execution.
