A scene that is not especially attractive, but typical of so many towns and cities and I suppose rather photogenic in its own way. A non-photographer would no doubt wonder what you were doing if you had been observed taking the shot, but there are plenty of interesting little details and textures to hold the viewer's attention. Lighting has been well controlled, as the sun looks to be quite harsh, but the shadow areas have been suitably lifted to retain lots of detail. Congratulations on your winning image.
A well-seen detail shot of an everyday scene, with a stack of mailboxes rather attractively set between a pair of doors. Composition is simple and uncluttered, which contributes to the effectiveness of the shot. The pale blue background is attractive but does not dominate, allowing the individual little boxes and accompanying door bells to stand out. Congratulations on your second place finish.
A simple but effective scene, capturing a row of post boxes for mail to be delivered for communities and dwellings too remote to receive a door-to-door mail delivery. The composition of the shot, with the mail boxes down quite low in the frame and an expanse of sky above seems to further convey a sense of remoteness and potential isolation. Although the subject is simple, there is still plenty for the eye to explore, comparing the individual differences between all twelve mail boxes in this one location. Congratulations on your third place finish.
I like this image more the longer I look at it. It is really nothing more than what it is: a window, a bike, a post box and a road sign, but each element is important for the story of the scene, and without any one of those elements the composition would probably be lacking something. Great framing, close enough in to appreciate the details of the scene, but far enough away to give space around the subjects to prevent them looking hemmed in. Simple but effective, well done on your top ten placing.
I love images such as this where the subject fills the entire frame. The scene is made up of only one colour with no different shades, but through your control of the exposure and focusing, we are easily able to distinguish the shapes and form of these two post boxes, revealing plenty of textural detail too. Red is a colour surprisingly difficult to get right as colour balance in camera is often fooled, producing false colouring which can even be difficult to correct in editing. Here however we look to have a perfect rendition of "pillar box red"!. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of letterboxes and postboxes. They can be used for either the sending or delivery of letters and mail. The postboxes can be in any setting and of any style, maybe traditional to your own country. The letterboxes can also be any type and in any location, such as on the front door of a house or a communal set of mailboxes in an apartment block. The postboxes and letterboxes should be the key focus of your image. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
