How clever is the photographer for spotting this? A perfect blend of symmetry and shadows. Well spotted it's one of the visions I had when creating this contest. Something so simple as a street light that is placed in such a way that I can't stop looking at it! Genius. This is something I would like on my wall. Many thanks for entering this stunning image.
I'm not normally drawn to dark images but with this, the eye is drawn to the lights. It's a brilliant angle where the viewer looks up to the lights and another image demonstrating how we use lights for so many things in life,
warning lights, comforting lights, on/off lights all help humans in their daily lives.
Stop and think how many times we rely on lights and it'll probably surprise you.
This is another image I'd like on my wall. Great job.
This image has beautiful clean lines and symmetry in a way that also displays the lights. I love the lights themselves, they are very modern and eye catching but also give a sense of calm because of the simplicity of the image. Simple can speak so much louder than complex in a lot of cases and here is just one of them.
I had so many wonderful entries into this contest I was in a big dilemma on how I could narrow down my top ten, I started with a top 30! A friend said to me "Pick ones that you would put on your wall" and that really helped although it's been a very difficult judging so all my judge commended images could so easily have been in my top ten.
A lovely image and thank you for entering.
This had to be my winning image for several reasons. It shows all the filaments inside the bulb, which stand out beautifully because they have been colour popped perfectly and I'm constantly being drawn back to it, which means it holds my interest very well and it's spot on brief. I do think the photographer should have showcased the entire bulb but even as it is I find this a very striking image. Well done and thank you for making my judging extremely difficult.

There were quite of few images entered in this contest that were all very similar to this and taken at the same place, however I think this certainly has the edge as the exposure is perfect for everything . You have the dark outer edge courtesy of a vignette and the lights themselves are beautifully exposed to show the detail inside.
Thank you for entering this lovely work.
I love the dynamic way this has been photographed. Showcasing the light is the main feature and the colours really compliment each other. I keep thinking the background is a bit cluttered but for some reason when looking at it I don't really get distracted by it. Its another image in my top ten with primary colours in it. Maybe that is the key to success, but a lovely image with great impact. Thank you for entering this in the contest.
What a smack in the face of stunning primary colours! Talk about stand out from the crowd, I think the photographer here has done an amazing job with this image. It lept out at me and it had to be in my top ten without a shadow of a doubt. A close up of flashing road works lights which is genius thinking! I've not seen any other image like this which is odd because it works so well. Its crisp and clear and apart from all of its other good points it also reminds me of boiled sweets! Many thanks for this unusual and super image and one I'd like on my wall.
This is obviously a controversial image as I can see it's not fairing so well with the crowd. However it's my number 2 image because it displays lights, and I did say in the brief that lights could be on or off.
After seeing this I went into more depth about Auschwitz and it was extremely upsetting. It's a stark reminder how atrocious human behaviour can be. It made me think, which an image should do. I want viewers of this contest to look and if you don't know about Auschwitz then read about it, be moved and learn from it.
Black and white is the only way to show an image like this and even the lights shape look sorrowful. To me it looks like their heads are lowered in shame.
I thank the photographer for entering this and hopefully make people think about how lucky they are today.

Light is Everything. So in this contest I want to see your creative shots of lights, bulbs and their fittings, they can be new or old switched on or off. Certain old switches can be quite decorative or even a modern one that you've got from an unusual angle. Maybe a row of fluorescent lights in a carpark. NO PHOTOSHOPPED images with fancy edits, just the real deal. If you have visited an old house for example, or an abandoned old building there is alway some kind of light fitting or switch. Don't just put up a shot with a light fitting somewhere in the picture but make it your focus point. Get your creative juices flowing and switch on those little grey cells. I look forward to your entries.
