The close up of this apex predator of the ocean really appeals to me, the image is very sharp with lots of detail and rather than opting for a wide shot of the full body the photographer decided on filling the frame with the head only and that works very well in my opinion, a well deserved highly commended
At first glance this image strikes fear, quite a menacing looking large male coming out of the sea very well framed, composed and captured i can almost sense the fear in the small seal by the looks of it,s demeanour the size perspective is quite amazing, well done to the photographer for capturing the moment a well deserved commended image
At first view i thought it was a young shark that had beached, until i looked closely, i believe black tipped reef sharks give birth in shallow waters so they dont become prey for larger sharks well done to the photographer for capturing this moment of this young shark in the shallows its nicely framed and photographed a very pleasing image
What a beautiful image of a sea otter closer focusing works to show the detail of the animal and the image is sharp in all the right places, in my opinion the framing of the image works well as it leads me right to left to the face of the otter, well done to the photographer and keep up the good work
I love the idea of this image, the silhouette of the boy looking into the tank at the shark and other fish, i think you nailed the framing of the shot which is helped by the subtle tones i would have never guessed this had been taken with a iphone so very well done to the photographer and keep up the good work
There are some amazing creatures in our ocean and you have captured one of them the red sea lion fish, on viewing the image full screen it is very sharp the detail is spot on and i like the darkness in the background it adds that something to the image, and another thing i noticed was the shadows of the fish on the sea bottom small things like this make a difference, keep up the good work
I was hoping to see something unusual that i had not seen before in this competition, then when first going through all the images this image really caught my eye it stood out, these tiny aquatic translucent creatures against the black background really work well and the macro detail is well I would say amazing then the odd one out just perfect, very well done to the photographer and a much deserved 1st place in a very competitive competition

Another stand out image in the competition and a very well deserved 2nd place there are lots to like about this image, including framing, composition and colours, you get a real sense of speed and as the photographer said when the dolphin breaks the surface it creates a dimensioinal image, very well done to the photographer

Marine life comprises the plants, animals and other organisms that live in the salt water of seas or oceans, or the brackish water of coastal estuaries (Wikipedia). For the photographer it poses the obvious problem of how to shoot underwater, and for some this is a specialist pursuit that can yield the most stunning exposes of the normally hidden marine world. Don’t be put off if your camera needs to stay dry though, exploring the shallows, shooting down into rock pools, or maybe you’ve snapped whales or dolphins from the side of a boat.

The tight framing of this image really works very well its almost close up i can make out lots of detail which to me is important with these types of images, the sense of moment as the whale breaches almost feels as though i was there witnessing the spectacle, a well deserved highly commended, to the photographer keep up the great work
