Dominic’s incredible underwater image takes the top spot in our Mellow Yellow photo contest this month which is dark, moody and atmospheric. The use a yellow dress on the model makes for a visually arresting focal point surrounded by deep blues. The frame is kept minimal and the model's pose is interesting too. Great job!

This is a stunning macro shot taken with the impressive Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x lens. The composition is minimal, clean and simple. The focal point is centrally placed which is what our eyes are instantly drawn too, the flower is bejewelled with smaller water droplets that give the shot loads of detail and the background has been beautifully blurred too. Great job!

Wayne's taken an incredible shot at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain. Shooting at sunset has bathed the scene in a beautiful golden glow and his long exposure time of just over three minutes has been enough to beautifully blur the sky and water, with his framing allowing the iconic fish-shaped reflection to be included in his composition.

By zooming in Gary's kept this shot incredibly minimal and it has worked wonders for him. The light is just hitting the leaves on these aspen trees beautifully, picking out their fantastic yellow and orange colour palette with some fantastic contrast against the dark backdrop. Great work!

Gilbert Clae's shot 'Air scoops' is certainly eye catching and packed with colour. We love the minimalist approach and zooming in on the building to give his picture an abstract feel, packed with brilliant architectural lines and geometry. Great work!

Thomas has captured a wonderful portrait here saturated with vibrant and punch oranges and yellows, with the model's blue hair standing out and instantly pulling the eye in. The central composition works well and the model's direct eye contact with the camera boosts engagement too. Great job!

Giulio has taken an incredible portrait on the streets of Jaipur of these two Rajisthani men. The eye contact with the pair is intense and visually arresting and the bright yellow turbans give the image a vibrant punch that really sucks the viewer in. Great job!

Peter's captured a fantastic close-up portrait of this bald eagle as it's staring right down the barrel of his lens. The eye contact is amazing, the composition is interesting and the few hints of yellow around the beak and eyes give it a good vibrant kick that helps draw the viewer in. Great job!

Shooting in the golden hour Nguyen has captured this wonderful scene as fishing nets are being dragged along a lake in Gia Lai, Vietnam. This time of day has bathed his scene in incredbly warm, golden lighting. Using a telephoto lens he's honed in on this specific scene of a single fisherman and has turned him into a fantastic silhouette. Great job!

Sigita's taken a lovely abstract photo of oil drops and water using a macro lens to get super close and reveal this miniature world in stunning detail. Her yellow background has been blurred wonderfully giving the shot a colourful and punchy kick.

This is an incredible shot of a praying mantis looking through a hole in a fig leaf. It's certainly colourful and striking! Our only minor criticisms would be that it's verging more on the green colour palette than the yellows we were looking for in this contest and the leaf also has a few distracting brown spots which would be better cloned out or using a different leaf to get a cleaner shot in-camera. Otherwise it's a fantastic capture, great job!

This is a fantastic shot of a Whinchat in a stunning rapeseed field which gives Ruediger's foreground and background an incredible wash of yellow colour that instantly draws the eye. While the positioning of the bird is great, about a third of the way in from the left edge, it's looking out of the frame on the left which makes the space on the right a little 'dead' rather than active. Otherwise, it's a stellar shot!

This shot of a whinchat perched in the rapeseed field is full of incredible yellows and the lighting is spot-on. The position of the whinchat has been expertly chosen, with the bird placed about a third of the way in from the left edge and it's looking towards the right which makes the right side of the frame 'active'. Great job!
