First a big thank you to all contestants. There were some fantastic entries. However, although nearly all could have been categorised as abstract architecture, only some, in my view, endorsed fully the concept of minimalism. In addition to seeing a minimal of lines, features and an overall simplicity, I was also expecting a certain warmth, softness, harmony and depth in your composition perhaps more like in the style of Matthieu Venot. Hence I have chosen this composition as the best representative. The colour beige of this building generated an overall softness and warmth. This was further enhanced by a near perfect surface showing just enough irregularities so to break the monotony of a uniform colour and to sustain your attention to further explore the other features. The two white lines clearly tell us that we have three levels of depths even if difficult to distinguish. For example behind the second white line , we infer and know that there is a staircase. But that is the beauty of it. The present perspective has intentionally flattened this composition into a near two-dimensional world - made it simpler. Further, two small openings, a window and a door in the wall tell us of an unknown space behind that wall extending our further imagination even further around what we currently able to see. The colour blue contrast softly with the beige as is the white. In this composition nothing shouts at you but just speaks in unison. Even the light ball works in synchrony with the round door and creates a balance with the straight lines. All together there is harmony between the few colours and shapes where nothing and everything draws your attention into this composition. Attention to detail is required to generate such harmony in a composition. Any flaws (which I have seen on quite a few others) can easily monopolise our attention and disrupt this harmony. So the selection of your subject for such a composition is crucial. Here is good example of choice of subject, ideal framing and attention to detail. Well Done and thank you for sharing your compostions.
