A nice portrait shot demonstrating real emotion in the face of the baby. Those eyes have such a far away look in them you wonder what is going on inside!. Really well composed, good colour and sharp too. Maybe just a slightly tighter crop to remove the pinkish area in the top left corner would have bumped this up another place. However still a very good image.
I love it when photographers use styles from another genre of photography and this one really stands out for me. A street style portrait that works superbly with the square crop. The Chimpanzee seems to pose beautifully for the shot. Personally I would have tried to lighten the area around the eyes a little more but a fabulous image nonetheless!

Powerful and dramatic with great focus, good composition and use of fast shutter speed to really capture the battle between these two! I love the details caught, from the foot of the baboon with its back to us, to the snarling features of his rival. Removal of colour really brings out the drama of the fight. Outstanding!
I love Orang-utans and I particularly liked this image from the many shots of them in this contest. Quite a few were blurry, poorly composed and not sharp, but this one really stands out for me Lovely separation from the background, nice details and beautifully lit. A small amount of vignetting helps to draw the eye in to the subject too. Good shot.

They may be our closest relatives, but that doesn't make monkeys and apes any easier to photograph. These wild animals are full of energy and mischief, and it's going to take more than a 'say cheese' to direct that energy into a winning shot - but with a bit of patience and a little photographer's intuition, the sheer character of these creatures mean you'll soon have an abundance of fun and revealing photos... and we'd love to see them!
A near miss! Nice composition and a great expression on the face but the shot is blurred!! A faster shutter speed would have helped here or maybe the monkey was too close to your lens so you were unable to nail the focus? Would have made my top ten if it had been sharp and in focus but a valiant effort.
