Great contest!

Not a fan of selective colour but I just like the story this image creates as the dog sits calmly watching the world around it as his master concentrates on creating music. I like the way the photographer has placed the musician to the left of the image allowing us to see the street signs to the right. The lamp post and bollard also help frame the couple.

I was drawn to this image mainly due to the golden light and simplicity of the shot. The position of the harp and harpist harpist is good and the blurred lights of the street behind him help create a warm and balanced image.

It's the intensity of the man's face that makes this a really good portrait of a street performer doing his thing. The man obviously puts a lot of feeling into his performance and the photographer has captured that extremely well.

This picture certainly pops out at you with all the vibrant colours on show. The musician is certainly happy in what he is doing and the bright colours around him help to convey the happiness of the image. I like the fact that the woman on the wall is smiling as if listening to the music.

A cool guy calmly sitting on a street corner strumming away at his guitar. I like the fact that the picture is in monotone and that it is in a square format harking back to the days when most street pictures seemed to be in a square.

This picture conveys a feeling of melancholy and is well composed. The rough stonework and lamp post all help in creating the rather sad atmosphere, added by the boy's facial expression. Personally I would not have had any colour in the picture but that is purely a personal thought.

I like the way the photographer has captured the girl singing while creating the sense of movement from everyone passing by. I also think the picture benefits from being in black and white and the the girl is dressed in white making her stand out from those around her.

This image is all about colour and I like the fact that the guitar almost blends with the yellow wall as do the man's clothing with the bench and street. I like the way the photographer has placed the subject on the right of the picture allowing us to see all of the grey bench.

Not exactly a normal shot of a musician playing in the street but I love the narrative the picture brings. Is the man frustrated, exhausted, reflecting? I also like the fact that the picture only shows the musician and is in black and white.

I'm not great on selective colour but the colours here are muted and do not impinge on my enjoyment of the shot. I like the way the band is clearly shot while those around them are blurred as they dance. The way the dancers frame the musicians also helps make it a great photograph.

I was drawn to this image due to the fact that only the end of the guitar can be seen along with the hand. The surrounding wall and door helps the colour of the guitar and hand stand out. An unusual but effective picture.

I love the narrative of this picture and the expression on the guitarists face as if he senses the girl is looking back with a smile on her face. One wonders if he was tempted to go and say hello to her. The only thing that is slightly off is that the picture seems slightly out of focus.

I like the narrative and simplicity of this picture. The expression on the violinist's face looking at the little girl is priceless. I think the image benefits from the fact that there are no distractions from things like passers by and the plain aspect of the street and background brings our focus totally on the people. I think that perhaps my own preference would have edited this picture to black and white.

I feel that this is a very cleverly taken image and which by it's nature makes it almost like a painting. The colour tones are good allowing the clothes the violinist is wearing to stand out from the rest of the scene.
