I find this very pleasing image, and I love the orange sunset you have captured. The near silhouette of the windmill and the other buildings is very nice, and I like the fact that you have not taken this totally to black. The flock of birds nearly mimics the shape of the clouds, which is pleasing to the eye. I see that you photographed this with the 400, so I don't know if you went out looking for a landscape shot with that lens. If you didn't, well done on spotting this and getting this amazing shot. Well done on taking First Place :-)

I really like this image a lot, from the star burst sun rays, the glow of the sun against the buildings, the movement in the clouds and the mirror finish of the water showing the glow from the sky. I think that this image is well balanced and perfectly sharp. The light looks amazing, and the 30 shutter speed makes this sing. Well done on a great image :-)

I was hoping that you would enter this image. It is very nice, with the FG being darker and the BG being in the mist. It's almost like the windmill pops out suddenly at you, not noticing it when you first look at the image. The colours and the light are great, and I like the way that the sun is just touching the fencing in the FG. The cold and frost can be felt in this shot and it must of been very cold for you. Well done on a great image and thank you for entering the competition :-)

You have done really well to get the 2 different extremes in this image, with the cold and overcast in the FG and the sunlit and warm coloured field in the distance. I like your composition, and with the tree on the left just getting touched by the sun, it ties the shot in nicely together. Well done on a great image and thank you for entering the competition :-)

This is such an interesting shot in Infrared. I have been to this location a couple of times and struggled to get a "good" shot, but by giving it the IR treatment, it makes it look special and different. Something to stand out from the crowd. The sky is amazing and makes this image for me. I like the way that the leaves in the FG and coming over the wall ties this all together. Well done on a great image :-)

Meet the judge

I love the way that the windmill in this shot is framed by the mist/fog, without having to put a frame around the image. Natural frame, is the words I am looking for. The bottom of the windmill fades out nicely, but I like the way that there is the grasses in the FG to give the shot a footing. The bird on the windmill blade is a nice touch. Colours look amazing, with the pastel pinks. Well done on a great image :-)

The sky and the reflections make this shot very special. I like that there is a slight movement in the water and that you have not used an ultra long exposure on this. Crisp from front to back and a great composition in my opinion. Great shot and thank you for entering the competition :-)

I really like this image, with the way that the Pier is almost framed in the fence on the left and the wooden fence on the beach on the right. The star burst lights are a nice effect, and the tones through the image are very nice, with the lighting at the front of the Pier drawing your eye to that location. Well done on a nice shot and showing something a bit different of a popular location :-)

Wow! What lovely colours! I have always had a weakness for a long exposure image. This image shows so much, from the great colours, the sunrise/set colours, the movement of the waves, then there is the dark fence in the water. I find this very calming to look at. Well done on placing in the Top 10 and thank you for entering the competition :-)
