This is a lovely portrait of a young girl clutching her school work, alongside the vital component for this contest - the numbers! For a general portrait contest, this maybe would not work so well with the image being virtually split in two, but for a "numbers" theme contest, it is ideal. All fairly dark/low key, but the details in the folds of her scarf and the texture of the wall are still clear. Lovely work, well done on your top ten placing.
Whilst the numbers are very small within the image, they are immediately obvious and a key element of the shot. Love the central composition of the column of numbers and your capture of the wonderful textures of the battered ship. The colours are very appealing - bold but not over-saturated. Well done on your top ten placing.
Love this image - just a garage/shed door handle and key, but makes a great subject, and spot on for the "numbers" theme! I like the contrast of the cool grey metals against the warmer orange rusty bits, and the square crop has worked well. A simple, but effective image - well done on your third place.
This one drew my eye as soon as I saw it, and for me is the winning choice in this "Numbers" contest. There were a lot of entries where the numbers were so tiny within the scene, I was regularly playing "hunt the number" during the judging, but this one is certainly all about the numbers, which is great. Composed well with the spray of colour on the top corner, contrasting nicely with the blue numbers below. A simple subject, but very effectively captured and presented. Congratulations on your winning image.

This is a great image - perfect choice for this "numbers" contest theme, where the red licence plate pops out of the frame. Your composition has worked well to get into shots a few vital bits of the car, and also a little of the surrounding street. The limited colour palette is wonderful - the soft plum and turquoise and some bluey-blacks give a lovely feel to the image, and the shabby details give us a sense of the place too. Love it, well done on your second place.
This image was always going to be in my top ten from when I first saw it during the judging. The markings on the metal may not really be "3s", but that's what they look like, so it meets the brief for me! Accurately composed shot, which adds to the abstract look, you have captured good detail in the rough paintwork. The image is well exposed with a range of tones, and retains a little shine as appropriate for the metal. Strong colour, but not over-saturated. Well done.
This is a great shot taken in some rather inclement weather, it nicely captures action even though the actual game is not in progress. Your low viewpoint is key to the success of the image, and your view of the backs of the rugby players is perfect for this "numbers" contest. Well lit and focused, and the wide crop suits the subject. Well deserving of its top ten placing.

What a great shot! I really like the colour processing of this image which brings a certain boldness to the reds and yellows, and adds to the overall success of the image. For the theme, I like your positioning of the number right in the centre, and you did well to catch the fire engine speeding past whilst retaining an adequate degree of sharpness. Well done.
This is a great image, and takes my final placing. On first look, the subject is not obvious, but although lockers could be pretty dull, you have created a super image. Verticals and horizontals are spot on, which is essential for a composition such as this, and the high contrast mono processing works really well, transforming the lockers to more abstract lines and blocks. Perfect subject for this "numbers" contest - great image, well done.
I am not usually a great fan of HDR processing, but this has been handled very well to give a "different" look to the shot, but avoided the garishness and ugly hyper-realism which some HDR images adopt. I really like your composition and low viewpoint, and I think it is important that you have also shown us a little of the tram shed, rather than cropping in too close. Great image, well done on your placing.

In this contest, I want to see images which contain numbers as a prominent part of the shot. The subject could be anything you wish, for example numbers on houses, trains, cars, boats, identity tags, keyboards, road signs... the list is endless. Just remember, the number must be clearly visible in the image - either as a single digit or multiple digits. I look forward to seeing your entries.
