An image straight out of the News. It shows the horror, panic and confusion after the event, without showing the gory details. The man in the front, possibly a police officer shows enough of the emotions, his movements in trying to run, or stagger away tell the story very vividly. This is a classic photojournalism image, showing the horror without the unacceptable details. Congratulations on being my winner.
OMG, it's almost unbelievable that nobody was harmed in this event. What the photo lacks in quality, sharpness and photographic treatment, is made up a hundred times by the immediacy of the image. You couldn't have got any closer, and you were simply in the right spot at the right time to give graphic evidence of the immediate aftermath of this accident. What a nightmare.
This was obviously the morning after the night before! Madi Gras time is a phenomenal event, but the unbridled enjoyment (and alcohol and/or drug use) shouldn't lead to such a sad aftermath, but seems to be a sign of our time, with too many shunning any responsibility for their behaviour. A terrible metaphor of our time? A great, but sad, image anyway.
I really loved this image from the moment I saw it! My face was surely similar to the lady's, as the photo is so tactile, I could feel the trunk!!! I'm glad it wasn't truly me. What a great catch. You were there, ready for it at just the right place and time - priceless. I hope the lady didn't mind you taking the photo and going public with it.
