This photo offers us a very serene atmosphere. Settng the grown up, healthy olive tree infront of a nice, perched Spanish village, but at some distance, is an excellent idea, as they belong together.. Very inviting picture for an immediate trip to this quiet place!
Thank you for sharing this nice picture with us and congratulations!
The walking olive trees! There is a strong dynamic in this photo, with these centenarians partly bent by the wind, but still magnificent with their tortured trunks and branches.. Living sculptures! Their crowns tell that their is no abundance of fruit to be awaited from them. Their only duty is to adorn the landscape and let us remember with humility that we cannot compete with them in age... Thank you for sharing this great photo with us! Congratulations!.
What a wonderful perspective over horizon reaching olive gardens in such a gorgeous Spanish landscape! And what a great photo as a result! Excellent composition, very nice contrasts between the green dots of the many olive trees and the red soil. Thank you for sharing this picture with us and congratulations!
This must be a very old olive grove, as the trunks are very gnarled and impressive! Twins, brothers, or simply one tree split in two parts, each living its own life? One century old or two, more? Excellent composition and colours, special atmosphere. Thank you for your participation! And congratulations!
This photo has many qualities, especially simplicity and very pleasant, natural colours. Its clearness makes it easily readable. Although there are many other landscape elements in the background, the old olive tree remains the true "character" of the scene, standing in the foreground and center of the picture. Does this tree have a very twisted trunk or only very strange aerial roots, evoking arms in a tight hug? It is difficult to tell for sure. The crown is very poor, witnessing the many sharp cuts during past times, and its ability to regenerate again and again. Thank you for sharing this genuine and pristine Mediterranean environment with us in this challenge! It would be interesting to see this photo in a landscape for comparison.
Congratulations for this first place!
Very majestic olive tree, with multiple, gnarled trunks, certainly the most representative of this olive garden. May be many times centenarian, but still healthy and productive ! The crown is very impressive in volume and beautifully shaped. Perfect composition, giving the main subject the whole place, with the other trees at some distance. Subtle atmosphere with nice colours.
Thank you for entering this challenge! Congratulations!

I do like this photo very much because of its strong personality and interest. Very well composed and balanced. I do appreciate the somewhat hard Mediterranean light, as well as the warm colours cast over both mineral and vegetal elements. Amarin trunk and aerial roots! Is it the bitter search for some moisture in this very dry and dusty environment. which make stretch out the octopus like roots, grasping at survival?
Thank you for your participation in this challenge and congratulations!
Meet the judge
A robust trunk, standing, bending, many arms towards the sky. Strange guy, may be a gymnast... or a parasol man? I like this picture because of its dynamic and the fact that this particular olive tree shows at the same time its beauty but also its imperfections.. Colours and sharpness are perfect. while the landscape suggests a very peaceful place. I do appreciate your participation. Congratulations!
I can imagine myself walking through this mysterious and intimate atmosphere of an olive tree grove, between very old and majestic trunks like this one! I wonder how old it can be and what happened to one of his big branches. There is very much poetry in this well composed picture, also between what is highlighted or not. The soft light touches everything with grace!
