Opposites

This image fulfils the brief of opposites in multiple ways. Directional, left versus right paths, contrasting colours, harsh highlights and shadows, a standing moving subject compared to sitting static subject. Not to mention, a sense of opposing social status of the subjects themselves.

I love the narrative and the overall composition, great work!

As expected, there were many submissions depicting opposites by tall versus short buildings or new architecture compared to old. All were great photos but this one stood out to me.

I really likes the contrast between the complex geometry and interesting structural design, compared to the more simple traditional building. The photographers utilisation of black & white also adds drama, and draws attention to the harsh highlights and shadows.

There were many incredible submissions featuring airplanes or jets, performing aeronautical stunts. But this one blew my mind! And incorporated multiple interpretations of opposites in a single image.

I really like the creative interpretation of the brief in this image. There wasn’t many submissions demonstrating opposites by varying the focus or using the concept of, near versus far.

I really liked that one focal point is up close and in focus, whereas other subject is in the background and soft.

This photo made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it. The composition is simple and the subject matter fairly ordinary. But the story takes on a whole new meaning when interpreted through the lens of opposites.

There is contrast in the age and direction of the facing subjects, but also in the physical and athletic fitness. I kept thinking… the men holding surfboards could BE those men in hats, 50 years from now.
